Moving upstairs now, the first room to the left gets its name from Jan's collection of amethyst glassware, much of which is in this bedroom. You can sleep in Jan's grandmother's massive queen brass bed.  There is also a single bed in this room (when using this extra bed, add $25 to the room rate). Stained glass hangs in each window and other family furniture pieces include an oak dresser. The private bath for the Amethyst Room is just down the hall and is a shower bath. The brass bed in the Amethyst Room came from Bonham, Texas and belonged to Jan's grandmother Saunders.  Some in the family have said the reason Jan got the bed was because no one else in the family had a house strong enough to hold up such a heavy bed.  Some of the family's antique clothes are also hanging on the armoire.   This was our oldest son Ken's room when we first bought this house in 1984.
