MINUTES
of the Heart of Texas Bed and
Breakfast Owners Association Monthly Meeting
at Country Charm Bed
and Breakfast, West
Tuesday, April 4, 2006
The meeting was called to
order by President Susan Mazanec. Members
present were John and Marcia Boggs, Joanne
Heitmiller, Elmer and Jo Ann Mulhausen, Ron
and Barbara Epps, Linda Williams, Linda
Johnson, Shirley Land, Sandra Twitty,
Nancy Countess, Pam Allen, Bruce and Dorothy
Dyer, and Susan Mazanec.**
Guest speaker was Judy Maggard, Director of
Parent Programs/Baylor Parents League.
Judy presented an advertising opportunity
for the association in the Parents' Calendar
for the school year 2006-2007. The calendar
would be sent out to all students' parents
before the start of the school year. The
advertising consisted of 1/4, 1/2 and full
page ads in the back of the calendar. Judy
fielded a multitude of questions, most of
which centered around the area of placement
of the ads. Many members did not feel that
the ads would receive much viewing if placed
in the back, but expressed interest in ad
placement within each particular month and
the cost for each ad. Judy left the meeting
with the promise to find out how much a
small block ad would cost, forward the
information to Susan Mazanec, who would then
pass the information out to the members for
a vote.
The subject of internet advertising
/sponsored ads/cost-per click was brought up
again and discussed. Susan reported that
more information is still being sought, but
also that a Waco-based web marketer had
expressed interest in attending the next
meeting to make a presentation.
Sandra Twitty gave the treasurers' report
and also noted that dues were not received
from Penny Mercer/Shabby Chic B&B.
Our host, Joanne Heitmiller provided yummy
sandwiches, desserts & more (as well as
nifty craft ideas!) for the enjoyment of all
attendees. Thanks, Joanne!
**The attendee list may not be correct, as I
don't have the list that was passed around
(?) and am basing this on my memory of the
event, which is limited. Please bring any
corrections to my attention.
A volunteer to take minutes at the next
meeting would be greatly appreciated!
Minutes respectfully submitted
by
Susan Mazanec.
